DCA raids unlicensed clinic in Ranga Reddy; recovers drugs worth Rs 1.15L

Officials discovered 145 varieties of medicines, including antibiotics, analgesics, and anti-ulcer drugs, stocked without proper licenses

DCA raids unlicensed clinic in Ranga Reddy; recovers drugs worth Rs 1.15L

Hyderabad: Officials from the Drugs Control Administration (DCA) of Telangana raided an unlicensed clinic and a medical shop in Pocharam Village, Ibrahimpatnam Mandal, Ranga Reddy district and recovered illegal stock of medicines worth Rs. 1.15 lakh.

Details of the Raid

Based on credible information, the DCA officials raided the premises of a medical shop owned by G. Narsimha and a clinic operated by Mantharala Ramthu Basha. Both establishments were found to be operating without the necessary drug licenses.

Seizure of Illegal Drugs

During the raid, officials discovered 145 varieties of medicines, including antibiotics, analgesics, and anti-ulcer drugs, stocked without proper licenses. The seizure amounted to a total worth of Rs. 1.15 lakh.


Concerns Raised

Of particular concern was the discovery of higher-generation antibiotic injections at the clinic, which poses a significant risk to public health, including the emergence of antimicrobial resistance.

B. Dinesh Kumar, Assistant Director, Ranga Reddy said “The indiscriminate sale of antibiotics by unqualified individuals can have disastrous consequences on public health."

V. Ravikumar, Drugs Inspector, Balapur added "Stringent action shall be taken against all offenders as per the law."

V.B. Kamalasan Reddy, IPS, Director General stated “Surprise checks are intensified on such unlicensed entities, and stringent action shall be taken against violators."
