Green Hyderabad: Fountainhead School launches Clean and Green Road initiative to combat environmental challenges

Hyderabad: Fountainhead Global School & Jr. College has partnered with SWAN (Save Water and Nature) and Ozone Run to launch a transformative Clean and Green Road initiative in a bid to combat environmental challenges near the school premises at Miyapur here.

Spearheaded by students and supported by Meghana Musunuri, founder of SWAN, and Teerdha Vunnam, founder of Ozone Run, the initiative aims to address pressing environmental concerns.

Identifying litter accumulation, inadequate waste management infrastructure, and the adverse impact of street vendors as primary issues, the initiative proposes a comprehensive approach under the CLEAN framework. It includes Continuous Cleaning and Maintenance, Laying of Sustainable Infrastructure, Enforcement of Regulations, Awareness and Community Engagement, and Nurture Partnerships.

"With a focus on sustainability and community involvement, our initiative seeks to establish a regular cleaning schedule, implement eco-friendly waste management solutions, enforce regulations, raise awareness through campaigns, and foster partnerships with local stakeholders," Meghana Musunuri.

Expressing their commitment to creating a cleaner, greener environment, Fountainhead Global School & Jr. College has called upon the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to join hands in this endeavor.

Successful Collaboration Leads to Cleaner Community

Following collaborative efforts between Fountainhead Global School, SWAN, and Ozone Run, a representation was presented to Commissioner GHMC Ronald Rose on March 26, highlighting the urgent need for cleaner roads near the School Community in the Hydernagar area.

On March 27, the collaborative efforts bore fruit as the GHMC team swiftly responded to the representation by clearing all trash and cleaning the roads in the vicinity.

Expressing gratitude, Fountainhead Global School hailed Commissioner GHMC, Ronald Rose, and the entire GHMC team for their prompt action and commitment to ensuring a cleaner environment for the community.

"Fountainhead Global School believes in Solution-based learning. We collaborated with Save Water And Nature (SWAN) and Teerdha Vunnam, Ozone Run founder, to achieve cleaner roads for the communities one at a time," stated Musunuri.
