Hyderabad rains: TSSPDCL, EV&DM, GHMC swing into action to restore power supply

Hyderabad: Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSSPDCL) and Enforcement, Vigilance and Disaster Management (EV&DM), GHMC have swung into action to restore the electricity supply in Hyderabad after rainfall and thunderstorms caused damage to power infrastructure.

The EV&DM and corporation staff also pressed earth movers into service to clear the trees and the streets in Kompally, Miralam, Kothur, Wanaparthy, Shamshabad, Patancheru, Allapur, Banjara Hills, Nalgonda, Himayath Sagar, Siddipet, Beeramguda, Tara Nagar and Ibrahimpatnam among others, where trees are uprooted due to heavy gale and rain.

Taking on X (formerly Twitter), the TSSPDCL posted updates about the power supply restoration works going on in various locations of the city around late evening about a series of power outages.“The restoration work is underway by the TSSPDCL,” as per a message on a social media platform by the power utility. TSSPDCL CMD Musharraf Faruqui conducted a ground-level inspection in Secunderabad and Banjara hills.

Revanth reviews situation

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy reviewed the inundation of low-lying areas, traffic problems, and power outages in Hyderabad due to heavy rain and strong winds. Revanth Reddy who was in Warangal took stock of the situation from there with GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose, City Police Commissioner K.Srinivasa Reddy, Transco CMD SAM Rizvi, and other officials.

The officials brought to the attention of the Chief Minister that the power supply had been stalled in many areas due to heavy rains and strong winds. In return, Revanth Reddy asked the officials to resolve the problem immediately and restore the power supply.

The chief minister also asked the officials to provide necessary assistance to the people in the waterlogged colonies in the inland areas. The police officials were asked to clear the traffic problem in the city as soon as possible and ensure that the vehicles reached their homes quickly.

Revanth Reddy appealed to the Congress workers to participate in the relief activities along with the officials and if the problem is serious, they should bring it to the attention of the higher authorities, he added.
