Revanth will join Bade Bhais BJP after polls, says KTR; Congress mocks him with frustrated jab

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) asserted that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy would join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) shortly after the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

KTR made these sensational remarks at the Secunderabad Parliament constituency meeting. He cited Revanth Reddy’s unwavering praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the past four months to back his claim.

“Why is Revanth Reddy silent over reports of his joining BJP after the elections? The chief minister should openly declare his permanent membership in the Congress,” KTR demanded.

The BRS working president claimed that, intriguingly, Revanth Reddy constantly complimented the Prime Minister when Rahul Gandhi was on a nationwide tour denouncing Narendra Modi as "Chowkidar Chor Hai." He said that after the elections, new political affiliations of Chief Minister and Modi's "Bade Bhai" will come up.

KTR further asserted that the BJP seems to be in control rather than the Congress. He said the age-old party is unable to contain the BJP in Telangana. To hide its shortcomings in providing energy and social programs like Rythu Bandhu, Revanth Reddy's government was constantly bringing up phone tapping cases and scams, he said.

"Revanth Reddy can't lead the state," KTR said.

Claiming that the BJP was abusing the national agencies, he alleged that the arrest of BRS MLC and his sister Kavitha Kalavakuntla was driven by a "political vendetta."

"Had BJP and BRS an understanding, then Kavitha would not have been arrested. Why is Congress not responding to Kavitha's arrest?” he asked

KTR alleged that Revanth Reddy had threatened builders, real estate agents, and industrialists to obtain Rs 2,500 crore for election expenses, which he then forwarded to his party's top command. As an alternative to the BJP, he argued, the Congress could not win more than 40 MP seats nationwide. After the polls, he asserted, the BRS would be crucial since only the nation's regional parties are capable of holding the BJP at bay.

KTR also criticized Danam Nagender for his defection to the Congress party, labeling it as opportunistic politics. He vowed to challenge Danam's decision by defeating him in the Secunderabad parliamentary seat and the probable Khairatabad by-election.

KTR demanded swift action from the legislative assembly speaker on the BRS's complaint against Danam Nagender, threatening to pursue disqualification through legal channels if necessary.

KTR also critisiced secunderabad MP and Central Minister K Kishan Reddy. He accused him of a lack of contribution to the city's development. KTR referred to Kishan Reddy as an "accidental" MP and Central Minister, given his loss in the Amberpet constituency in the last assembly elections.

Congress rebuttal to KTR

Parigi MLA Rammohan Reddy said, “KTR is frustrated after his sister Kavitha Kalvakuntla’s arrest. He is talking delusionally about Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Despite the people teaching a befitting lesson to the BRS in the assembly elections, KTR’s arrogance has not subsided. The BRS will face the same kind of humiliation from the people in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections,” he said.

The MLA noted that the people of Telangana are aware of the Kalavakuntala family which robbed crores of rupees of public wealth during the decade rule of the BRS regime. “Why is the KCR family scared when the investigation is going on regarding phone tapping? Aren't they ashamed of being involved in the phone tapping of opposition leaders? KTR will be shifted to Chanchalguda jail if his role was proven in the phone tapping,” he said.

Rammohan Reddy said that the real face of Kalavakuntla family would be revealed soon. “We have the complete list of the victims who were threatened through phone tapping. It was the BRS that threatened the contractors, builders, and industrialists and the same is revealed in their electoral bonds. Why will Revanth Reddy join the BJP? After the Lok Sabha elections, the BRS would be merged into the BJP,” he said.
